The review above is overly negative, probably from a bitch who does not appreciate old style motels that are a third of the price of the yuppie overpriced pieces of crap rooms in the mainstream, like Super 8s. and Days Inns, and also provide views of trees, hills, etc. instead of the madness of Sheldon and Gurley Streets traffic. Either that or she got a bad room. My experiences in both the old rooms and the newer rooms at the Sierra have been good, plus the views. Everything works, and neighbors have been good (some Europeans, from whom we could learn good behavior). I would advise that person to stay away from these refreshing old places, and spend her money elsewhere!

AVOID THIS HOTEL AVOID~AVOID!
ROOMS~ THIS PLACE WAS MOST DISGUSTING WE HAVE EVER STAYED AT AND WE COULD HARDLY WAIT TO CHECK OUT OF THE PLACE.....This Hotel should be CLOSED DOWN by the CITY. Sleep in your CAR before you book a room in this pighole! The BEDDING WAS FILTHY DIRTY AND NOT CLEAN. THERE WAS DRIED BLOOD ON THE BEDSPREADS and SITCKY FOREIGN MATTER AND CRAP on the Blankets. The Matresses need to go to the DUMPSTER along with the PILLOWS and HOLEY SHEETS AND PILLOW CASES. The LIGHTING was poor and one of the only 2 lamps had an ELECTRICAL SHORT. The TV shut off at Random. The Carpeting was filthy and the furnishing were 50's style and busted up. Curtains were white and full of wholes and DIRTY! Could not open windows the screens were BROKEN as were the window Cranks. The only DOOR to the Room could easily be kicked in and was far from secure, and was not sealed. The SHOWER had low water pressure. There SPA had broken jets and SMELLED like FISH. With that said we had no desire to try the POOL.
The folks in the ROOM next Door were pemanent and nosy residents at this HOTEL.
LOCATION~ WAS OK and would be fine for a well kept and updated Hotel.
PRICE~ OUTRAGEOUS FOR PIG HOLE. I would stay home before ever booking this place again.....
STAFF~On duty desk clerk dressed innapropriately. Not very imprressed with her attire. She was Friendly but a french fry short of a happy meal!
FOOD~ NONE Thank GOODNESS!
